Mark Sherman
principal consultant
Mark’s service to clients builds on more than 30 years in non-profit development. Mark Sherman got his start with the capital campaign for the Japanese American Historical Plaza in 1989, working with Bill Naito. After spearheading development initiatives at Oregon Public Broadcasting, Young Audiences, Raphael House and Morrison Center, Mark created Mark Sherman Consulting in 2002. Weighing the organization’s fundraising potential, and building on the strengths of the non-profit’s team of supporters, Mark helps non-profits design and implement an effective and sustainable fundraising strategy that capitalizes on each organization’s unique potential. As team leader, Mark ensures the integrated communications strategy effectively raises the community’s perceived value of our client organizations in order to drive fundraising success at every level.

Erika Weisensee
grants and communications consultant
Erika, a seasoned grant writer and communications strategist, has devoted much of her career to advancing the work of non-profit organizations. She spent seven years working in the development office of Raphael House of Portland, providing fundraising support while leading the organization’s community education and outreach efforts. Since 2011, she has partnered with Mark Sherman to help non-profits achieve their fundraising and communication goals. In addition to her non-profit work, Erika has enjoyed past work as a college writing instructor and freelance journalist. Her writing has appeared in The Oregonian, Oregon Humanities Magazine, Oregon Report and numerous other print and online publications.

Emily Crawford
Graphic Designer
Emily has been designing for almost two decades and regularly partners with the Mark Sherman consulting team on a variety of materials supporting capital campaigns and major donor programs. She started her career working with Portland-based creative agencies with a focus on branding, advertising and marketing. In 2008 Emily launched her freelance business, finding a niche with non-profit organizations and stationery design. In her free time she designs modern memorial templates for her Etsy shop, Elegant Memorials.
Amanda Beckett
Project Manager
Amanda has worked and volunteered in the non-profit sector for over 15 years, with experience ranging from development and grants management to volunteer coordination and data quality consulting. Prior to this, she worked in the healthcare field in administrative roles and care coordination. With a keen attention to detail and ability to understand the needs of an organization, Amanda enjoys assisting non-profits in efficiently and successfully seeing projects through to completion. In addition to her work with Mark Sherman Consulting, Amanda is also a certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor and yoga instructor serving clients in the Portland metro area and beyond.
